Okay, I love a good Snow White rendition as much as I love cheesy Cinderella renditions. Why? It's fun to see these classic fairy tales redone in a modern way, without so much of the " female fawning over a prince" stuff. With a weak female usually written as the character. Good thing about Snow White renditions? Lately they have been portraying Snow as a strong female character. I love that.
So what do I think about Mirror Mirror? I thought it was great. I'd give it an 8.5 out of ten. It wasn't mean to be a fantasy thriller. It was meant to enlighten you into some interesting theories on life. It wasn't meant to make you heart race as you watch her being chased and killed.
It was a fun and easy rendition on the tale and very enjoyable to watch.

Easy fun movies like this are great for those down days and perfect for those days when you are completely happy. Which is why I loved it.
However, it didn't get a ten out of ten for a few concrete reasons. I'll list them now.
***Spoiler Alert***
Firstly, sorry for those of you who didn't see it yet. Up ahead are a few small spoilers I'm sure you'll be enticed to read anyway.
1. At the end of the movie, after all is said and done and it's time to fade to black, that doesn't happen.
What does happen is a sudden, out of the blue, Bollywood song performed by Lily Collins, who plays Snow White in the movie. The song is quite catchy actually, if a little juvenile. I have found myself humming it several times since I watched the movie, the week after it came out in theatres.
The problem is that it does not fit into the movie AT ALL. I love Bollywood movies. I mean I went through a phase when I watched them everyday and I've finally found a sense of moderation with my love of foreign films. I mix it up. Ask me which is my favorite and I'll quickly say the title Mera Pehla Pehla Pyaar, a cute little Bollywood movie found free on Youtube.
Back to the point:
It just didn't seem like a natural transition. The movie isn't set in India so why have the Indian style song and dance? It immediately brought my rating of the movie from 10 to 9.5.

2. The other point deducted is a mix of natural deduction and disappointment.
I loved the fact that Snow White was to cunning for the queen's manipulation. But when you think of Snow White you automatically think of a deep slumber, a romantic kiss. This part of the story was wiped out. The apple wasn't even mentioned until Snow White actually beat the queen at her game. So while I actually like the fact that Snow White was smart and saw through the queen's witchy disguise, I was conflicted that we never got the deep sleep.
That onlyy affected my take on the movie a little bit but overall it's a movie I'll definitely buy when it reaches stores, and one I'll definitely watch again and again.
If you guys want to see more movie reviews on specific movies, feel free to post the titles here on the bog or ask me on Facebook!
