A thriller fantasy that came to life. From the start this author captures my imagination with the incredible writing talent and the way scenes were described. This author really does have a brilliant imagination, while reading this story I could clearly see everything talked about in great detail without the author having to drag on about what characters and places look like. This stood out firstly for me and made me keep reading since it started out a bit slowly as the main character was introduced.
This story revolves around a young girl called Rachael who witness her father’s death and is enslaved by a ghost with dark powers. Now she must do what he says and she is resistant at first but after a while she starts actually liking this strange being. Even me, the reader, started to like the character of Lock, the dark demon boy with the beautiful green eyes.
I just had to see how their relationship developed and I wasn’t disappointed. At first they are hostile towards each other and Rachael gets bombarded with other dark creatures and the truths of the afterlife that face her that made things worse but as they start working together to search for a legendary Staff that can help Lock and the other ghosts enter a realm almost like Heaven, their relationship grows into something more close and romantic.
This story isn’t for the faint hearted for sure. Monsters are described in graphic detail and the thriller element comes out during these scenes were Rachael had to face supernatural beings of ultimate power.
A lot of action took place as Rachael and Lock traveled through different dimensions in order to achieve Lock’s dream of reaching the Third Realm. For a story so full of darkness and action adventures it had a very sad ending. It was a happy ending but what Lock had to give up made it so sad and I fell in love with his character even more.
A great novel to read for anyone who loves stories of adventure, banished souls and with just a splash of romance. I recommend this story to readers that love excitement and are open minded to the unique story of this author. It was a pleasure to read and I don’t regret making time for it at all.
A memorable tale.
